Hatchmatcher Guide Service based out of Historic Scottsville,Virginia has provided Smallmouth packages on the James River, it's tributaries and the Shenandoah River since 1999.

Guide L.E. Rhodes,Jr. grew up roaming the banks of the James from an early age. His love of the river is seen in his knowledge of the river and its Smallmouth. He started fly fishing in his teen years and soon after took to tying flies. He has tied flies commercially under the name of Hatchmatcher Flys. From this business he started guiding and that's when Hatchmatcher Guide Service was born. In 2006 he became an Orvis Endorsed Fly fishing Guide. He is very proud of this endorsement and takes pride in working to provide a service that you will find friendly and knowledgeable of the rivers and streams of central Virginia.

His season begins in May and runs through October. Be it Fly or Spin fishing, all skill levels are welcome.
