Where we came from
Outbound Angler grew out of FindTheFishing.com, a fishing guide directory that has helped anglers find guides and charters since 2012. In 2026 we rebuilt it from the ground up under a new name, with better search, cleaner listings and tools that let guides keep their own information up to date. Every FindTheFishing listing came with us, and old FindTheFishing links now lead here.
For anglers
Planning a trip is easier when you can see your options side by side. You can search by region, by the species you want to catch, or by a specific lake, river or bay. Each listing shows the guide’s trips, rates, boats and contact details, along with reviews from other anglers.
When you’ve found the right guide, you book with them directly. We don’t take bookings, payments or a commission, so the price you see is between you and the captain.
For guides and captains
Listing your business on Outbound Angler is free. If you’re already in the directory, you can claim your listing and manage it yourself: update your trips and rates, add photos and boats, and hear about new reviews. If you’re not listed yet, you can add your charter in a few minutes.
We verify ownership before handing over a listing, usually by matching your email address to your business’s website, so nobody else can take control of your page.
Keeping listings accurate
A directory is only useful if it’s current. Every week we automatically check that the guides’ own websites are still online, and we review listings whose sites have gone quiet. We also compare listings against the trips and rates guides publish on their own sites, and a person reviews those updates before they appear here. When a business closes or stops guiding, we take its listing down rather than leave you chasing a dead phone number.
